A Journey of Hope, Grit & Courage
The Saga of the AAPI / Asian Diaspora in Charlotte & the Carolinas
Between two Worlds
In Vietnam’s history, war represents sadness, loss, poverty, and nightmares. The Vietnam War was one of the longest conflicts that lasted for over a decade, bringing losses for both sides. Through pictures, words, film, and artifacts, we revisit the memories of wars - poverty that wars cause, the loss of friends and family, and the journey to a new country in hopes of a better life. It allows future generations to reflect on the challenges the previous generation had endured in perseverance for hope and encourage them to pursue a better life for themselves and their loved ones.
The Charlotte Museum of History is opening up an exhibit featuring all 23 AAPI countries to share their Journey of Hope, with a dedicated space to display artifacts, arts, and pictures that represent the challenges that most Asian countries endured from wars, colonization, and immigration. The Vietnamese Association of Charlotte (VAC) is very honored to receive the opportunity to share our community’s Journey of Hope, Grit and Courage.
